We may be biased but genuinely believe that we run watersports from one of the best locations in the Lake District; Grubbins Point on Windermere. From this sheltered bay situated on a private stretch of shoreline we offer both instructed sessions and board hire.
Paddleboarding is a fast growing watersport in the UK right now, and at Graythwaite Adventure we offer board hire to help you hone your skills or experience SUP for the first time. Ours is a fleet of RED boards, arguably the best available. We're happy to hire boards to first-timers who are water confident, however guests that opt for an instructed lesson for their first outing learn the basics and progress much quicker ... they also spend more time paddling, less time swimming!

If there are a few of you, why not choose to take out one of our Monster Paddleboards; each board holds up to 8 people and they're brilliant fun that require everyone to be standing facing the front and paddling in the same direction, which is sometimes easier said than done! :). We have two giant boards, so if you fancy a bit of competition your group of up to 16 people can split into two teams and race head to head. Whether you use your board(s) for racing, cruising, a picnic on the lake, practising gymnastics or as a sunbathing platform, you're bound to have a blast with our Monster SUPs.

We require at least one adult in your party to be on the water. You can opt for a one hour or two hour hire.
Guests to Graythwaite Adventure can enjoy a variety of other awesome land and water-based experiences; 4x4 off-road driving, clay pigeon shooting, archery, axe throwing, canoeing, kayaking, bushcraft, RIB boat tours and more. Experience : Explore : Escape.

Itinerary

Upon arrival at Grubbins Point, please make use of our free parking before meeting one of our friendly team at our watersports hub. Following introductions, we'll kit you out with buoyancy aids and head to the water's edge where the boards will be ready for you. We'll run through the basics and answer any questions you have before helping you set off. How far you venture depends on your experience and the weather conditions on the day. We'll provide everything you need; boards, paddles and buoyancy aids. All you need to do is turn up, get paddling and enjoy. Wetsuits are optional but recommended so that you get the most enjoyment from your session. If you have your own wetsuit you're more than welcome to bring this or we have a range of sizes available to hire. Please note, if you're not entirely confident to hire the monster board, we'd recommend one of our instructed sessions on a regular sized board for one person.
