Wire Sunflowers workshop - Saturday 17 August

  • Location Danby Lodge National Park Centre
  • Price from £65.00

Highlights

10am - 4.30pm

Learn various wire forming techniques and create a wonderful everlasting Sunflower for your garden or as indoor decor for your home. The workshop is suitable for anyone and is a nice way to learn basic metalwork and jewellery making skills. Please note though, the technique is a little repetitive and the wire used for the large Sunflowers needs to be relatively thick so it may be tiring on your hands, so do bare this in mind if you have any issues with hand strength.
In the morning we'll all start by learning the basic technique, creating a couple of mini, stylized flowers before going on to create a small sunflower. (The small Sunflower head is approximately 15cm in diameter).
Then in the afternoon we'll go big and create a larger flower which will be a wonderful feature for your garden. (The large Sunflower head will be approximately 30cm in diameter).
You’ll get a handout to remind you of how to do the basics as well as suggestions for suppliers so you can make more at home.
The workshop is with Anna Roebuck, who began to develop the wire flowers in response to a Remembrance day commission and has since gone on to explore making different types of flowers out of wire.
