Foundation Safety and Rescue Training focuses on giving you the skills to confidently and safely perform basic rescues and problem-solve for scenarios that might crop up when paddling. The course takes place on flat water and you will have the opportunity to try out, and practice rescuing, a wide range of paddling craft including kayaks, canoes, sea kayaks, sit-on-tops, and SUPs. This course is invaluable for all paddlers and is a prerequisite for those going on to Paddlesport Instructor. The course usually takes place over 1 day on sheltered water in Taunton.
ItineraryThis course is on flat water. You will look at safety and incident prevention; bank based rescue techniques including throw lines; a wide variety of tows and shunts; self-rescues; peer-rescues and scenario based problem solving, all using a wide range of paddling craft including kayaks, canoes, sea kayaks, and SUPs.
