Parsley Hay long ride - Over Haddon and Monyash, 23km
This route seems to be a never-ending descent as you drop down through Middleton, Youlgreave and finally to the river at Alport. It is a lovely introduction to off-road riding. There is an easy ascent on tracks and quiet lanes to Over Haddon and a final rise through and beyond Monyash before dropping back down to Parsley Hay. It is on a mix of tarmac and easy, off-road tracks.
We will meet at Parsley Hay with its bike shop, cafe and toilets. Bike hire can be arranged beforehand, if necessary.
We will start with a quick 'M check' of our bikes and a chat about riding techniques, including gears, braking and riding position. After chatting through the route, we will set off. The route follows the High Peak Trail for a short while before following easy tracks and quiet roads as we descend to Alport. There is then an easy climb up to Over Haddon before dropping to Monyash and climbing again before the final descent back to Parsley Hay.
