Three day Devon guided tour

  • Location Bideford (this is for reference only)
  • Price from £1,145.00

Highlights

This packed 3 day tour connects you with many of the splendours Devon has to offer. It combines the three “one day” tours of Devon into a multi day tour which can be tailored to your own aspirations. This inclusive package means you will be picked up from your accommodation each morning and dropped off in the evening, the tour can include transfers between resting places and possibly pick up and / or drop off from designated railway stations (please call me on +44 7768 565656 to clarify whats included or see our T & C’s). Lunch will be booked at a local eatery (not included) or we’ll grab a snack on the way to keep things moving, a traditional pasty and a cream tea should always be considered. We can advise on locations to stay to minimise travel times but not actual accommodation options.

Day 1 North Devon Coast: First stop of the day, the dramatic Hartland Point, followed by a walk down to the exposed Hartland Lighthouse, over 2000 miles directly west from here is Newfoundland. Travelling North up the coast we arrive at cliffside village of Clovelly, where cars are banned but wooden sledges are used a plenty! Onto Woolacombe and its 3 miles golden sands, followed by Valley of the Rocks and then Lynmouth where you can experience the cliff railway down to Lynmouth, home of the infamous flood of 1952. Lastly we travel south across Exmoor and its mesmerising landscape.

Day 2 Dartmoor National Park: The stannary town of Ashburton is our starting point, with its Inn that’s been serving ale for nearly 900 years and links to three of our most famous knights (sirs). Onto the windswept moors we’ll view medieval and clapper bridges dating back over 2000 years. Lunch is a highlight in one of the most isolated inns in the country. The infamous Dartmoor prison and its dark history is a must see and keep your eyes peeled for the moorland livestock including the Dartmoor ponies. Day 3 South Devon Coast: The day starts with a magical view of Burgh Island and its art décor hotel, Agatha Christie fans take note. Down the coast to beautiful Slapton sands with its unique coastal ley (freshwater lake) but also tragic WWII historical past. Dartmouth is next, home of Dartmouth castle, here a short ferry ride down the estuary to Dartmouth quay is an option, then onto Brixham home of Englands biggest fishing port. Time permitting we’ll conclude at the spectacular Berry Head peninsula and its nature reserve.
