Enjoy a fun half day of abseiling, exploring and pushing your limits.
Your instructor will help you set and achieve progressive challenges, pushing yourself as much as you want to.
This active session is suitable for adults, families and juniors with no prior experience necessary. However, we recommend that families with young children (under 10) contact us before booking to make sure everyone gets the most of this session.
The Dewerstone is an awesome granite crag set on the wooded slopes above the river Plym, it is home to Devon’s first ever recorded rock climb - Mucky Gully, first climbed in 1894! Nowadays it is a hugely popular venue for local and visiting climbers alike, with some of the best low to middle grade climbs on Dartmoor - a perfect place for a climbing (or abseiling) adventure!
Itinerary
You will meet your instructor and the other people attending your course at The Dewerstone car park where introductions will be made and you will be issued with some basic kit (helmet and harness) which we will ask you to carry with you on the walk in.
The walk in to The Dewerstone is a 20 minute, moderately physical walk, on a beautiful trail through the woods and along the river.
Once at the crag your instructor will give you all a safety brief and get you kitted up, checking that all your equipment is properly fitted.
Now for the fun part! After some training (or a refresher for those who’ve done it before) on how to abseil safely, you will have the opportunity to complete a succession of abseils from small to big, pushing your comfort zone as far as you want to.
TICKET OPTIONS and UNDER 18's:
UNDER 18'S MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY THEIR PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN THROUGHOUT THE SESSION.
- If the accompanying parent or legal guardian does not want to abseil, they will not need their own ticket.
