About Skaill House

Skaill House is a 17th century manor house located on the west coast of the Orkney Islands. The house is the seat of the Breckness Estate which is the largest private estate in Orkney. The House is open to the public from April to October and also features self catering apartments, gardens, falconry and a seafood shack.

Booking Policy

1\. YOUR TICKETS 
Tickets cannot be resold but can be refunded up to 24 hours before the performance.  If an event is cancelled, you will be offered  a refund. If an event is rescheduled, you will be offered an exchange or refund, which must be requested before 9am on the date of the rescheduled event. Refunds will only cover the face value of the tickets and will not include associated booking fees. Refunds or exchanges must be requested from your point of purchase and can only be claimed by the person who made the booking. Tickets may be restricted to a maximum number per person for certain events. Skaill House reserves the right to make alterations to the advertised programme. Tickets are required for each child attending a performance. All customers aged 14 years or below must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 years or over. Some performances may have different age restrictions. It is the responsibility of the ticket holder to check any restrictions before they purchase tickets. 

2\. ATTENDANCE 
Skaill House may introduce additional safety measures for customers and staff attending performances in accordance with Government guidelines and/or our own risk assessment of the events. If measures are introduced, you will be informed by email as soon as possible. All attendees will be required to comply with these measures. Every effort to admit latecomers will be made at a suitable break in the event. Please be considerate of other customers when using electronic devices.  It is against the law to smoke in the House. The use of e-cigarettes is also prohibited.  Mobile phones and other electronic devices are distracting to other audience members so please keep on silent.  Skaill House reserves the right to refuse admission.
3\. VIOLENCE TO STAFF
Our staff are committed to creating an unforgettable experience for everyone visiting the House and treating everyone with respect. We ask that you show them and your fellow audience members respect too. Physically or verbally abusive or threatening behaviour towards our staff or members of our audience is offensive and unacceptable. Any such incidences will be investigated and appropriate action taken. If you are attending an event and someone is acting in an intimidating, aggressive or threatening manner, please speak to any member of staff who can contact the Duty Manager.

4\. PHOTOGRAPHY AND RECORDING
Photography / recording policies are set by the acts of each event and are often only confirmed on the day of the performance. In general Skaill House encourages customers to enjoy performances as live events and not to persistently photograph or record them. Customers should show consideration for those around them, including that electronic device screens can affect the experience of other customers. Please note that all copyrights in performances are reserved. Purchase of a ticket and attendance at an event means you consent to filming, photography and sound recording which may include you as a member of the audiences and its use in commercial distribution without payment or copyright. Unless customers are notified otherwise, the House's default policy shall be: Unauthorised use of the following is not permitted at this event: professional audio or video recording equipment; tablets; SLR cameras or those with a detachable lens; other recording or electronic devices the Hall deems unsuitable. Customers will be asked to put these items in the cloakroom for the duration of the event. Mobile phones are permitted in the auditorium, however use of flash is not permitted. Persistent recording is not permitted. Stewards may ask that customers cease any activity that they deem is adversely affecting the experience of those around them and refusal to comply may result in being asked to leave the venue. Photography and recording, including on mobile phones, may be completely prohibited by the artists and the house will enforce this where necessary

5\. SOCIAL MEDIA GUIDELINES
We trust users to be responsible, and the huge majority of people who post on our channels respect that trust. Skaill House may report, remove or request the removal of any content that it considers to be unlawful (or which promotes unlawful conduct) or which it deems inappropriate, including but not limited to: Obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory comments or comments that incite or condone violence against individuals or groups based on race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, nationality, or sexual orientation/gender identity, or whose primary purpose is inciting hatred on the basis of these core characteristics Threatening or abusive content or content that invades another’s privacy, or which harasses or causes annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety.  Some comments might offend you but won’t necessarily violate our guidelines. We recognise that people think, feel and react in different ways. Assessing content may involve a delicate balancing act and our assessment may not please everyone all of the time.

6\. IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Loud music can damage hearing. Skaill House accepts no responsibility for any personal property brought to the venue. Customers are advised not to leave valuables in their car. Please consider our neighbours and leave Skaill House quietly

5\. PRESS IMAGES
Pictures in our media portal are licensed solely for non-commercial reproduction by recognised media organisations and must be accompanied by the photographer’s copyright notice listed next to the image on this website.
