About Low Mill Outdoor Education Centre

Welcome to Low Mill Outdoor Centre, dedicated to the development of people through outdoor adventure and learning. Low Mill has been providing bespoke adventurous outdoor activities in the Yorkshire Dales since 1976 for people of all ages and abilities. We are recognised as a quality outdoor education provider with various accreditations including: Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) Learning Outside the Classroom AHOEC Gold Standard Quality Badge Adventure Mark Situated in a converted water mill in the Village of Askrigg, Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, we are ideally placed in one of the most beautiful areas in the North of England.

Booking Policy

All under 18 year olds must be accompanied by a participating responsible adult. Minimum of two people to make a booking.
An alternative activity may be substituted due to safety factors or weather conditions.
Statement of Risk

Low Mill places safety as a top priority. Adventurous activities involve some risks for the people taking part, the Low Mill team aim to keep these risks as low as possible. The chances of serious injury are extremely low, but the chance of minor injuries (bruises, bumps and – less likely – minor fractures) are a possible result of taking part in adventurous activities. Low Mill will minimize the actual dangers by:-
  • Carrying out a careful assessment of all risks before commencing the activity

  • Only using experienced Instructors with the appropriate qualifications for the activity

  • Giving clear safety instructions to everyone participating

  • Ensuring equipment is well-maintained and suitable for the activity and environment
  • Ensuring activities are within the capabilities of the participants
  • Asking participants to supply any medical conditions or information
  •  Ensuring good hygiene standards are kept
 To ensure the safety of all, we expect participants to co-operate by following instructions and answering questions honestly about any medical conditions or other information relating to health and safety.
Consent
You agree to taking part in the activity booked and understand that you will take part at your own risk, and accept that no responsibility for accidents or injuries or loss or damage to personal property rests with the supervisory staff, unless proven to be caused by their negligence. You declare that to the best of your knowledge that you are medically fit to participate in the activities, and I agree that medical treatment will be given if necessary and in case of emergency, understand the information from this activity may be stored digitally.
You agree that your photograph may be used for publicity or marketing purposes, unless we are informed otherwise.
We will retain your data for a maximum of three years as per our GDPR policy. Your personal data will be treated as strictly confidential, and will not be shared with third parties. COVID 19
As part of our Covid safe risk assessment, please confirm that you have not displayed any Covid symptoms within 14 days leading up to the activity date, been tested positive for Covid-19 or been in contact with anyone who has displayed symptoms or been tested positive in the past 14 days, or that you are travelling from an area currently under local restrictions. Your details will be retained as per Track and Trace guidelines.

Cancellation Policy

Custom Policy

For a full refund, cancellation must be made in writing /email  at least 14 days before the activity is scheduled to start. Alternate dates may be able to be agreed but this is not guaranteed. Should Low Mill Outdoor Centre  need to cancel for any reason, a full refund or alternative date will be offered.
