Highlights

Our two-day mountaineering course gives us the opportunity to look at what type of skills & techniques we need for looking after yourself and your climbing partner with the techniques to get you moving with confidence over different types of terrain. We're here give you the skills, knowledge and tools to be able to make safe decisions in the mountains from the forecasts, terrain & how to safely climb your routes with the knowledge gained over the two days.
Any technical equipment, crampons, ice axe, harness & helmet is included in the price

Effectively planning your days in the mountains, using weather and avalanche forecasts

Avalanche awareness/avoidance and its implications for safe route choice

Basic rope work, tying in, belaying leader and second

Construction of snow anchors, with uses for ascent and descent, inc abseiling

Safe selection and use of natural rock anchors

Coaching to develop your movement and technique on steep/varied terrain

Revisiting core winter skills, such as efficient use of crampons and ice axe

Day 1

Cairngorms.
Day one will we concentrate on being able to move around on steeper slopes using good footwork, use of the ice axe, anchor selection, construction and how we tie in and basic belay techniques.

Day 2

Cairngorms.
Day two will be looking at putting our techniques from day one into context, potentially climbing a grade 1 gully; we will use the techniques from day one and build upon this during the ascent.

    'Belay' type jacket Wicking base layers, top & bottoms Goggles, double clear lens recommended Head torch, plus spare batteries Balaclava and neck gaiter

Custom Policy

  • Cancel before 31 days of your adventure and receive a 75% refund (minus payment processing fees).
  • Cancel within 30 days of the adventure with no refund.
  • Alternate dates may be able to be agreed at no additional cost, but this is not guaranteed.
